| Every TSO analyzes the power system events in order to understand them and take appropriate decisions. |

| Two main processes can be distinguished. - Near real time In « near real time », i.e. within a few minutes after the event, essential information about the faults is used by the operators of the regional control center in order to re-energize the lines as soon as possible. This process is essentially supported by the SCADA system. - ...and post mortem disturbance analysis At a later time, post mortem disturbance analysis is performed to investigate the power system behaviour and possibly find out incorrect operation of protection relays, circuit breakers... This process provides input for further processes, including : optimizing the maintenance, preparing fault statistics, assessing power quality, and maintaining the quality of the network models. |
